Why the heck christians must mock, in the name of liberty of speech, muslims by presenting caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed? And why the heck muslims must respond to mocking with violence? Christians should stop this mocking and muslims should bury their guns - and start to mock Christian God and Jesus instead. Then would both parties of this idiotic quarrel be even. I don't really understand the violence and everlasting grabbing of the guns. Muslims are humans like Cristians, but why so many of them are so violent - just in the name of Allah? It would be much better, if there would be no religions in this planet... So many wars have been started just because of religions - so many people have been killed in the name of different gods...

I agree. Religions have their downsides. Still I'm a christian and wouldn't change it to anything. But I don't feel that I'm a follower of a religion but it's a personal relationship with my God. Yet I haven't been able to find a perfect church or perfect religion because there isn't one. Churches are basically man made and that's why they will always have all the faults of human beings. We just have to find the personal relationship to our God through jesus and that can be done. I've been disapointed with christians many many times but never with my God. I also value other religions a lot since most of them have same values than christianity. I don't like the way we people think of each other cathegorizing to jews, muslims, christians, hindus etc. We should always see the person.
I don't either like cathegorizing people by religion, nation, color or whatever and I agree that we should always see the person.
But back to original subject - why so many Muslim groups have now responded with violence? Most of them have not even seen the cartoons that started this. And in addition to that, as Tane states in his blog, much more offensive pictures of Mohammed have been published earlier and in addition to that, Muslims have also drawn pictures of Mohammed by themselves.
Indeed. With the centuries long active history in drawing of the prophet by muslims themselves and the past publications of even more offensive pictures (which haven't caused any rattle in the past) - one can only conclude that the big uprising from these particular pictures must be very deliberate indeed.
But why now? Why these pictures? There are many heightened tensions building up as we speak: the end of oil, overpopulation, depletion of many natural resources, downfall of the environment, war in Iraq (essentially also about oil), conflict in Israel, terrorism etc etc. To raise such a rattle over these particular pictures right now can help escalate the situation and reinforce a point with much added weight. Maybe it is the newly elected Hamas in Palestine that will emerge as the mediator between the two parties (muslims vs. the rest) and thus gain the support and gratitude of the west?
Somebody has alot to gain from this situation, let's just see who steps in front of the line first..
There really seems to be something more behind this cartoon issue, as Danish imams have made worse the set of cartoons they presented to Arab leaders in Middle East. And in addition to that, when Danish government apologized this incident, Arabs censored it at least in some TV Stations, i.e. they did not translate the apology! See Counterterrorism Blog.
Below is a graphic of Mohammed that is hitting the Internet widely. It's historically accurate and deserves some further publicity. If you will, I think our Muslim friends should see this work so they can make rational objections to it if they have any.
Thank you, Dag.
